Fruit of a centuries-old tradition of excellence in medicine and science, the HUGs were established in 1995. Bringing together Geneva's eight public hospitals and, since 1 July 2016, two clinics (Joli-Mont and Crans-Montana), they represent the first university hospital in Switzerland. They also have 40 outpatient consultations spread throughout the canton of Geneva.
